Personal Logo Design & Process

It was important to me that the logo I designed represented who I was and allowed the viewer to understand my artistic style. The image or symbol I chose to go with is a “single line,” curvilinear drawing of my own face and it is meant to feel organic and sleek. I decided to go with this concept because I felt it was personal and elegant but also my audience a gave clear indication to my artistic capabilities. The lines are smooth and altered to be thicker or thinner in certain areas to add definition to areas like the lips, hair and the end of the line that goes between the font. It was very important that my logo was easy to read even at a small size. I created over 20 different logos (and their variations) before coming to this design. All that work paid off as this is a logo I am proud and happy to start using to represent myself. Below documents the majority of my design process for my personal logo.
FINAL LOGO DESIGN
This is an image that has the potential to be highly appealing to a large audience as it is easy to mentally digest and also is interesting for the eyes to look at. The current chosen colour is black because of it's versatility but this logo looks good in a wide range of colours and can even be stacked on top of itself (in colour or black) to give an “optical illusion feeling.”
The placement and style of font used is very similar to the, “Studio Ghibli,” logo coincidentally but for those who recognize this slight nuisance will further give more information on what I connect with and what I would like to emulate through my work. Studio Ghibli is an anime film studio that creates fantastical and unique stories through digital and analog  illustration / animation.  The placement of the text creates a section of negative space which helps further place attention on the logo image as well as giving balance throughout the logo. At a glance the eyes are drawn in by the text and then travel up to the eye of the face through the curvilinear lines of the hair and then back down into the text. The visual unity is strong between the curvy/organic line drawing and the rounded/smooth san-serif text, "Calibri - regular." This has been achieved through precise selection of font, alignments/positioning and care when creating repetitive elements such as the waves in the hair.
